Whilst many Navisworks users work exclusively in one language, quite a few like to work in more than one language. Particuarly as construction contracts are becoming global.
So you've already installed Navisworks on your machine in one language, how do you add another?
As with all installers, you'll need Administrative rights. Then you'll need to go to your installation media (DVD, network drive or download location), and find the relevant MSI installer: -
FirstLlevel - either x64 (64 bit) or x86 (32 bit).
Second Level - en-US (English), de-DE (German), es-ES (Spanish), fr-FR (French), it-IT (Italian), ja-JP (Japanese), ko-KR (Korean), pt-BR (Brazilian Portuguese), ru-RU (Russian) and zh-CN (Chinese PRC)
Third Level - NAVFREE (Freedom), NAVSIM (Simulate), NAVMAN (Manage) or NAVEXPORT (Exporters)
Then double click the MSI file in there.
e.g. To install the 64-bit German language pack for Autodesk Navisworks Manage, double-click x64/NAVMAN/de-DE/NAVMAN_LP.msi.
You'll need to do this for each language and version of Navisworks you want to install a language pack on.
To open Navisworks in the new language you can create a shortcut and add the argument below to the shortcut name
-lang **language code**
So in this example the shortcut is: -
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2012\roamer.exe" -lang de-DE
This can also be done when initially installing the product, simply select the Language or additional Language Packs to install during standalone installation or a deployment, the additonal language packs can be found in the same locations as above.
Let us know how you get on, and any interesting stories you have about working in multiple language with international clients.
